I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Although it was hard being away from my immediate family for the first major holiday since the big move, Andy and I had a nice Thanksgiving Break. We spent Thanksgiving Day in Des Moines with his mom, two of his siblings, and some of his nieces and nephews (and even a great-niece!) We both had Black Friday off as well; we opted out of hitting the stores to just relax at home! I did buy a few things online from the comfort of my couch and while wearing jammies, so…. online shopping may be the way I shop from now on!
Speaking of online shopping, this year I requested the majority of my Christmas gifts through Amazon. Since they offer free shipping, it’s perfect for my family members who want to buy gifts and ship them to our house here in Iowa instead of us trying to fit them in our carry-on on the plane ride home from Kentucky! (I have no desire to check a suitcase while traveling over Christmas because we’ll only be gone a few days and I don’t want it to get lost!)
To be totally honest, I’ve had a wish list going of things I want for Christmas all year! Andy and I first tried the “make your own Amazon wish list” for my birthday and it was brilliant! When I first suggested it, Andy complained that I would know what he was buying. So, I added a bunch of items for a good variety and promised to not peek at my list until I open my gifts! In fact, my husband bought my birthday gift (of these leggings and this tunic, as well as these leggings to go with a Christian t-shirt) and it was the best birthday gift ever! I got some things I really wanted and love while cutting down my impulse shopping, Andy felt like he actually picked out my gift, and nobody had to go shopping at the store. Win-win-win!
I’m doing the same thing again for Christmas! Here’s a sneak peek at what I have on my wish list this Christmas (ahem, hubby and family, pay close attention!)
Visiting the “Little Town on the Prairie” in De Smet, South Dakota a few months back re-ignited my love for all things Laura Ingalls Wilder. One of the neatest things I learned on my trip to De Smet that the “Little House” series was originally written as an autobiography aimed at adults, but when publishers weren’t interested, Laura and her daughter re-wrote it as the beloved children’s series we all know today. I had a chance to read a tiny portion of this book at the Ingalls Homestead and oh my goodness is all I can say. If my family doesn’t buy this for me, I will buy it for myself!
My other tripod is an 60-inch AmazonBasics lightweight tripod and I love it, but as I travel more, I’ve noticed it’s more difficult to travel with as it doesn’t easily fit in a backpack or suitcase. I would love this tripod for all of the trips I will be going on in the future!
Back in 2014, my sister gifted me a personalized engraved business nameplate with card holder and I absolutely loved it! (In fact, it’s on the desk in my home office as I speak, err, type!) But now that I’m a Mrs., I need a new nameplate to go along with my name change! I specifically love the built-in card holder, because it means one less item to keep on my desk!
I keep seeing these adorable letter boards around Instagram and want one for myself! I’ve always loved the idea of writing a Bible verse of the week on a whiteboard or chalk board, but I don’t have pretty handwriting. A letter board would be perfect to still display a memory verse!
I am absolutely obsessed with Coke Icees, but since the move to Iowa, I have found exactly one location in our new town that sells them: Burger King. And given the quality of our Burger King, the odds are about 50-50 on any given day that the machine is working. So, how perfect would this homemade Slush machine be!
I know I won’t get everything on my wish list for Christmas, and that’s okay! I’ll just save the leftover items for my birthday list 😛
If you don’t have Amazon Prime you can try Amazon Prime for free during a 30 day trial or you can even give the gift of Amazon Prime to someone this Christmas!
