With the craziness of the wedding, moving, and settling into my new life here at Fort Knox, it completely slipped my mind that my blog’s birthday was coming up! On July 1st, Becoming Bailey turned four years old! It’s crazy to me that I’ve been writing here for 4 years now, and love it just as much (if not more!) as the day I started this blog.
As I tend to do on each blog birthday, I’m recapping my favorite blog posts and events of the past year.
Why I’m Not a Mom Yet. This tongue-in-cheek post about why I’m not ready for kids hit the nail on the head for some people. I’m still not ready to be a mom, and that’s okay.
Marriage Fears. In this post, I was honest about some of the fears I have about getting married. It proved to be a quite controversial post, and I ended up having to disable comments because of the responses I was getting. I don’t regret sharing my feelings and fears about marriage at all, and I hope I was able to speak to another excited-yet-scared girl.
Military Spouse Linkup. Although I wasn’t technically a military spouse by the time this linkup rolled around, I joined in anyway. I loved writing this post because it reminded me of all the blessings and opportunities that would be coming my way after the wedding. Andy’s job isn’t perfect, but I can’t imagine him doing anything else.
2016 Goals, Resolutions & Verse of the Year. I loved my New Years’ Resolutions for 2016 because I was really able to outline my goals for the year. I’ll be doing an update on my resolutions in the next few weeks.
Monthly book reviews. I’ve been doing book reviews for a while, but starting in January I made it a regular monthly series on my blog. It’s really helped me to read as many books as I can! I’ve currently read over 36 books in the first 6 months of 2016 and can’t wait to read more!
Finances. This past year was the year of paying off debt! I paid off my car in August– my favorite debt to pay off to date. I paid off a total of 14k in 2015. I also shared my first Bailey’s Budget post, and although it was scary to share something so personal I was so glad to inspire others with my post!
Touring the Indianapolis Mormon Temple. I had the opportunity to tour the inside of a Mormon temple, so I did it. In this post, I compared evangelical Christianity to Mormonism. This one was a controversial post, and I actually lost a few friends over it, but I don’t regret it in the slightest. We’re all entitled to our own opinions, and this was mine.
My first major sponsored post. This is the year I decided to be serious about the blogging thing, so getting accepted to Social Fabric and publishing my first major sponsored post was a major feat! There may have been quite a few tears shed (perfectionist, party of one) but I really did love it and can’t wait to do more!
And my number one favorite blog posts… My love story. From my first post about becoming his girlfriend, the day we got engaged, our wedding day, and settling into married life, I’ve chronicled every step of the way with Andy. He absolutely loves that I share our love story to inspire others but also record our love story for our future children and grandchildren. It’s hard to pick just one post, which is why I picked this entire series as my #1 post, but a few of my favorites are: In Sickness and In Health, Wonderful Weekend, and One Year Later.
