Usually, I’m excited for the beginning of each month because it means new goals to accomplish. And usually, I’m especially excited for July because my birthday is on the 2nd. This year, though, July has been a month I have absolutely been dreading. We move to Iowa in just a few days, and I’m overwhelmed at all of the changes taking place. Yesterday I celebrated my 25th birthday and said goodbye to my family 🙁 But enough about that. Let’s take a look at my June goals.
1. Take Lily on walks. Yes! Andy and I have been taking her out nearly every night and I love it!
2. Read 8 books per month. Shockingly, no! We didn’t listen to any audiobooks to/from Louisiana like I had expected. In fact, I only read 3 books this month.
3. Do 3 e-courses this month. Nope. I didn’t even try!
4. Go on four “Kentucky Bucket List” date nights/weekends this month. We didn’t go on 4 dates– we only went on 2 (Patton Museum and Cumberland Falls, plus a friend’s wedding) but that is because Andy and I decided to scrap the other 2 dates. I still count this as completed! 5. Put in my 2 weeks’ notice at work. Done! 6. Pack up the house! It all came together somehow. Everything is all packed up. Today we are loading the moving truck, tomorrow we’re deep cleaning our house, and on Wednesday we will hit the road. 7. Go to Parker (Andy’s brother) and Anne’s wedding! Yes! It was a little stressful traveling for a wedding in the midst of a PCS, but I am so glad we were able to make it. We had a wonderful time– such a great time, in fact, that we stayed later than planned and left at 9 pm on Sunday instead of 9 am! 🙂 8. Celebrate our first wedding anniversary! Check! Our first anniversary was a great success 🙂 I’ll blog about it soon!
6 of 8 goals… pretty good!
For once, I’m actually not making any goals for July. It’s hard to plan goals for something when you don’t really know what will happen. I’d like to settle into our new house and be completely unpacked, but since we don’t even have a house lined up yet, that’s impossible. I’d like to find a job, but I want to be settled into our house first, since I will most likely have to get a telecommuting job. Did I mention we don’t have a house yet? I don’t want to set myself up for failure, and since I’m already emotional and a bit overwhelmed and frazzled with the move, it’s best that I use the month of July to just rest and rejuvenate and hopefully I will be back in the swing of things in August.
