A while back, my friend Chelsea posted a post about her recent, random purchases from Amazon. At the time, I was debating whether to get an Amazon Prime account myself. I had had one for a few months over Christmastime, but canceled it in the spring when we learned about our big move. At the time, we didn’t need to buy anything on Amazon and since I worked in Elizabethtown, I could easily swing by Walmart or any of the big box stores to pick up whatever I needed. That all changed when we moved to Iowa!
Since I’m now a part-time college student thanks to tuition reimbursement through my employer, I qualified for Amazon Student. A free 6 month trial of Amazon Prime, then I’ll get half off a yearly membership (making it just $50 a year) for 4 years, I was sold! If you don’t qualify for Amazon Student, you can still try Amazon Prime for free through their 30-day trial!
It has been incredibly easy for me to shop for what I need from the comfort of my home (and the comfort of wearing PJs.) One of the hardest parts for me whenever I move is shopping and having to adjust to a new store layout. I remember it would bring me to tears sometimes because my shopping trips would take so long since I didn’t know where anything was. Plus, now that I’m working a full-time job for the first time since I got married, the last thing I want to do is spend my precious, limited free time at the store! With us moving into a new house, we have had to buy a lot of things that I didn’t expect to.
I thought it would be fun to take a peek at what Andy and I have bought lately.
I use cotton swabs frequently to clean tight crevices, but one of the places where cotton swabs just wouldn’t fit was our toothbrush holder. There is no way to take apart the toothbrush holder, so the inside ended up really gunky and gross. I was debating just throwing it away, but then I found these 6 inch long cotton swabs on Amazon. For just $6, I decided to give them a try. They’re originally made to clean firearms, but I found them to be perfect for my needs! Andy loved them as well, both for cleaning around the house and cleaning his weapons.
Our current rental home was built in 1950, so all of the electrical outlets are 2 prong. These adapters allow us to plug in our electronics.
Leggings are my newest favorite article of clothing, but I refuse to pay the expensive MLM prices for the “brand name” pair. I found a pair of knockoff leggings on Amazon and fell in love! They are so buttery smooth and for just $12, I can buy multiple pairs! I bought these pair of antique crosses-print leggings to go with an adorable Christian t-shirt that Andy bought me for my birthday. I also own a pair of the American flag print leggings by the same company and love them just as much!
I needed a tunic to wear with the American flag leggings, so I snagged this one (in navy blue) online. The medium fit is rather large on me, so I think next time I will size down to a small. The tunic was just $15, so I bought an entire outfit for less than the price of one pair of LLR leggings! I love how put-together I feel while wearing tunics and leggings, while still feeling as comfy as if I was wearing sweatpants!
I needed a pair of earphones for work, and although I love my bright pink over-the-ear-phones that I bought from Target’s Dollar Spot, I’m unable to wear them to work because they aren’t professional enough. As the receptionist of my office, I needed something where I could only wear one ear at a time so I could greet students and answer phones with the other ear. I didn’t like the over-the-head sets because the bar felt uncomfortable on my head and I hate the in-the-ear buds, so Andy suggested a pair of these. I love them! They are comfortable enough to wear that I even take them from my office to the gym with me!
Do you have an Amazon Prime account? Why or why not?
If so, what are some of your recent purchases?
