I can’t believe how quickly time has gone since Andy was here. It seems like he should still be in Kentucky, not in Louisiana. I just spent over an hour writing a post detailing our Saturday together…. only for it to disappear. Ugh! Here goes take 2.
We said goodbye on Friday night around 1 am. I had planned to sleep in on Saturday morning and go hiking around 11 or so, but I was so excited from the night before and nervous about the day ahead that I was wide awake at 6 am. Around 10:30, I finally called Andy to see when he wanted to meet up. He asked if I wanted him to pick up any breakfast on his way over to my house.
I drove us out to Yellow Creek Park for a “hike” — let’s be honest, Owensboro doesn’t really have any good hiking trails. But it was better than nothing, and it would give us the opportunity to do something while we got to know one another. I don’t remember what we talked about, but I just felt so comfortable with him, like I could open up about anything. At the end of our hike, we passed Yellow Creek and made the spontaneous decision to play in the dirty creek. He held my hand for the first time as he helped me down the slick rocks into the creek. Andy was more adventurous than I, as evidenced by the photo below.
