I want to apologize in advance for the sporadic posts on the blog as of late. (In fact, my husband called me out on it the other day… “My favorite blogger hasn’t posted anything today?” “Who?” “You!”) I have been working my little hiney off these past few weeks with not one, but two new jobs. On Friday I approved my time card at both jobs to discover in two weeks, I had clocked in 43 hours at one job and 96 hours at the other. 96!!!! That is 16 hours of overtime!!!! I have been trying to write a post or two on the weekends since I usually work only 8 hours on Sundays, but lately I’ve been so tired I haven’t written any!
Anyway, I recently remembered I hadn’t written a post about Andy and my first Christmas as husband and wife. It wasn’t terribly exciting, as I was still horribly sick. Thankfully, we were able to make the 4-hour roundtrip drive home to spend some time with my family on Christmas Day, which was so nice. I unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy any of the delicious food my mom had cooked, which was a bummer. We somehow forgot to take family photos this year, which was another bummer.
On Christmas morning, before we headed to my family’s, Andy and I celebrated Christmas in our own little home, just the two of us (and our two furbabies, of course.) I made us go to bed the night before in our matching jammies so we could take cheesy photos the next morning 🙂 Andy bought me a new LifeProof cell phone case as well as a new Bible with my married name on it. I love love love it. I have about 6 different Bibles, all in different translations, (perks of when I worked at LifeWay) and I love each of them. But this one is my very favorite. Andy wrote on the inside “To Bailey Grace” even though if you’ll see below Kay is actually my middle name 🙂
For Andy, I bought him a few different things he had been asking for but would never buy himself. A dog pooper scooper since he is the primary cleaner-upper after our pup and a nose hair trimmer because he realized he is turning into an old man. Oh, and a wedding band.
I hadn’t mentioned it to anyone for fear of embarrassing my husband, but a mere 6 months after our wedding, my husband lost his wedding band. We have no idea what happened to it. Here one day, gone the next. I was a little upset about it at first because I thought it was a bad omen or something, but not terribly upset since we actually bought his ring from a pawn shop since he wanted a gold band but didn’t want to pay a ton for it since we had the feeling he would lose it at work or something. To replace the band, I bought him a Qalo ring. I had seen a lot of soldiers/military spouses rave about them, and it was only $25 so I felt much better knowing we hadn’t spent a ton of money on it if he loses this one. We actually plan to have him wear this one when at work and deployed, and once I buy him another gold band he will wear that for date nights and special occasions.
I decided to surprise Andy with his new ring by “proposing” to him. I had this big speech planned in my mind, but when I got down on one knee I completely blanked and said “Andy, I love you so, so much. Will you marry me?” just like he did when he proposed. He was completely shocked and loved how I put so much thought into his gift.
I forgot to take a cute little photo of us in front of our tree, so this one of us opening gifts will have to do 🙂
It was the very best Christmas with my love! 🙂
