It’s been a while since I’ve talked about my jobs, so what better way to start off a Monday than writing about work? (I know. Mondays stink. I’m sorry.)
Last Thursday was my 1 year anniversary at LifeWay. It’s been an enjoyable, albeit sometimes exhausting, journey there. I wrote this post a few months in, right after Christmas season ended, and re-reading it tonight was the reminder to keep going at my second job.
I’ll be honest, the first few months were hard, hard, hard. Adjusting to a new job is hard enough. Working 55-60 hours a week was tough– sometimes I’d work 13-14 hour days 4 days in a row. Add in the Christmas season on top of all of that, and it’s a wonder I didn’t lose my mind. Actually, there were a few stretches where I lost my mind. I’d sit outside in my car before the evening shift and cry from stress and exhaustion. I still feel a little stressed and exhausted, but I’m learning to live with it.
I could not have worked on my debt snowball so quickly without my job at LifeWay. I paid off a personal loan and a car loan, and in a few months I’ll pay off my credit card. Contrary to popular belief, my entire LifeWay paycheck does not go back to LifeWay. I only spend about 1/5 of it in the store 😉
