Traditionally, newborn photos are taken when babies are, well, newborns. But between Drew’s week-long hospital stay at the beginning of his life, a quick trip to Kentucky to meet my family, and Thanksgiving, he was nearly a month-old by the time we were able to arrange newborn photos. Nonetheless, I’m so glad to have these photos to look back on from when he was little. It’s already hard to remember him at that stage, and I’m sure as he gets older, my memory will fade even more.
Since I didn’t like my appearance in Drew’s Fresh 48 photos, I begged Andy to let the photographer take a few quick pictures of our little family; thankfully, he agreed.
That sweet grin kills me!
I also knew I wanted some photos of Drew with his Daddy’s Army gear. Life as an Army “brat” will be very different compared to my more traditional childhood, but I know Drew will do well at it. We look forward to all of the neat adventures and experiences that his Daddy’s military service will give Drew.
This photo was the one photo I had to have from our newborn sessions. Drew is named after both my Papaw and my husband, and I wanted to honor their military service. Although the image didn’t turn out quite like I had envisioned and I was probably “that” client (no regrets- after all, photography is not a cheap investment!), I am so glad I insisted on a photo of Drew with my Papaw’s Vietnam-era Army helmet.
