It’s been a while since I’ve written an update on my finances, and I figured now was as good of a time as any to do so. I’m not going to tally up how much I’ve paid yet– I want to surprise myself come the first of January– but it’s safe to say that I’m totally surpassing my goal for the year.
I paid off my car in August, and since then I’ve been working to pay off the $5,500 balance on my credit card. I haven’t really been working as hard at it as I should but now I’ve got some new motivation.
My employer of my HR job notified employees we will be getting a $1,000 bonus (just like last year) but in addition to that, we will be getting a 5% salary increase! Praise the Lord!! I joked with Andy last week that we should pray I get a $1,000 bonus, and God answered that prayer… and then some!
Thanks to the extra $1,000 plus an extra paycheck at the end of November (we get paid bi-weekly, and November has 3 paydays) I will have an extra $1,300 to put on my credit card. It would be more, but taxes. That’s all I’ll say on that subject 😉
My goal is to pay off my credit card by the beginning of February. I have a few goals for what I’d like to do with my money come February, but for now they’ll be a secret…and no, they don’t include paying off my student loans yet! Gasp!
3 months to go until I can “Discover” credit card freedom. Let’s see if I can do it 🙂
