When it came time to plan our second excursion, Andy and I were in a debate over what it would be. I wanted to go horseback riding on the beach, while he wanted to go swimming with dolphins. I wanted to surprise him on our honeymoon, so I secretly booked the dolphin swim without telling him. When he found out, he was so excited!
We took a shuttle from our hotel to Dolphin Cove, which seemed like a great idea, but when we arrived and they said our shuttle home wouldn’t be until 4 pm– 5 hours later!– we were rethinking that decision. We didn’t know it, but Dolphin Cove has plenty of activities to do besides just swimming with dolphins: watching a shark and stingray show, riding a mini-boat (similar to a Zodiac), do the Jungle Walk and see exotic animals, kayak in a glass-bottom kayak, and relax on the sandy private beach. Unfortunately, we were ill-prepared and didn’t bring enough cash for lunch at the Cove.
Andy and I waited for our dolphin swim by taking a ride on the Zodiac and it was terrifying. Never, ever again will I ride in a Zodiac. We also watched the shark show, which was perfect at making me fear our dolphin swim.
Finally, it was time for our dolphin swim! Andy was all smiles with Apollo, our dolphin, while I was more hesitant. By the end, though, I was laughing and enjoying myself! We got to rub his belly, get a kiss and a hug, dance with him, hold him like a baby, and swim on his belly. It was so fun! They had an option to buy all the photos from your swim for $75 per person, which Andy and I happily paid so we can decorate our house with photos of dolphins 🙂
