I’ve always been an inquisitive person. When other kids were watching cartoons, I would read Mamaw’s Redbook and Good Housekeeping magazines to learn what products I “just had to have.” One of the things I love about traveling was reading SkyMall; I always find something new that I didn’t know I needed, but suddenly couldn’t live without. Even now, I find myself intrigued by gift guides and product reviews on blogs. Can you relate? If so, this new blog series I’m creating is for you! Inspired by a friend’s post inquiring what people buy on Amazon, “What I’m Loving Lately” is the occasional blog post where I share the new-to-me items that I can’t live without!
After my last hair dryer purchase 8 years ago, it was finally time for me to upgrade! I hated blow-drying my hair because it was time-consuming and would leave my fine hair frizzy. Since switching to this hair dryer, the amount of time required to dry my hair has decreased, and the silkiness has increased. If you hate blow-drying your hair like me or have thick hair, this is the hair dryer for you!
When Andy and I traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for our honeymoon, we fell in love with Jamaican jerk chicken. I would eat a jerk chicken wrap, French fries, and drink a strawberry daiquiri poolside for every single lunch; sometimes, I’d even grab a jerk chicken wrap as a late-night snack if I didn’t enjoy the dinner at the fancier resort restaurants. We bought a bottle of this exact brand of jerk seasoning while we in Jamaica so we could enjoy my new favorite meal back in the States; sadly, we finished it within weeks of returning home! I couldn’t find any jerk seasoning that we liked at any American grocery stores, there are no international grocery stores nearby, and we weren’t willing to pay $30 to import a bottle of this seasoning for ourselves. Amazon to the rescue!!! It was just $14.99 for a huge 32-ounce bottle and came with free two-day shipping. I have made jerk chicken wraps multiple times with this seasoning, and it’s almost as good as being back in Jamaica.
I have been an essential oil addict for the past 3 years. I liked Young Living oils, but I don’t care for MLM prices (or MLMs in general!) A friend suggested that I try Eden’s Garden essential oils two years ago, and I’ve been faithfully buying oils from them ever since. Although they don’t have as large of a variety as YL does, their price point is much more affordable! Eden’s Garden is a non-MLM company; their quality is the same, but the price is lower because you’re not paying a “middleman.” I now buy the majority of my single oils and synergy blends through EG and use YL only when EG doesn’t have a particular product I need. Some of my favorite Eden’s Garden synergy blends are Be Still for bedtime, Digest Ease for tummy troubles, Muscle Relief for sore muscles, and Aphrodisiac for date night 😉
I was first introduced to Hyperbiotics last May for a sponsored blog campaign. At the time, I was still recovering from the 6-week episode of tummy troubles that resulted in a colonoscopy and diagnosis of post-infectious IBS. I had such a positive experience trying Hyperbiotics for my blog post that I have been taking them ever since! My tummy troubles are much less frequent than they used to be. Even Lily and Gracie take their PRO-Pets probiotic by Hyperbiotics, and their tummy troubles have decreased as well!
I used to think makeup mirrors were the silliest product. Why use a makeup mirror when you have a mirror in front of your bathroom sink? That is until we moved into our Iowa house. Open-floor concepts and well-lit bathrooms were not a thing when this cottage was built. I struggled every day trying to apply my makeup in the bathroom and make it look half-decent until it dawned on me to just apply my makeup somewhere else! I bought this mirror and moved my makeup bag to the living room, and now the makeup struggles are over! (Well, the struggle to apply it. I still struggle with making it look good!) In case you were curious, I apply my makeup while sitting on the couch. I drape a blanket over my lap to catch any stray makeup particles and prop the mirror on the end table. I also store the mirror and makeup bag on the bottom shelf of the end table for easy access.
