On our first full day in Hawaii, we visited Kailua Beach Park. We didn’t stay too long, because it was crowded! While we were in the Kailua area, we made a trip over to Marine Corps Base Hawaii as we were curious how “the other half” lives. As we roamed around the base we saw signs for a beach called Pyramid Rock, so we decided to check it out. What we didn’t realize at first was that you have to drive over the flight line to reach the beach– that was quite an experience! Pyramid Rock Beach has rough waves, so it’s better suited for boogie-boarding or splashing your ankles in the water than swimming. The beach was mostly secluded, so we used the opportunity to take some “DIY maternity photos” on the beach.
The above photo is one of my favorites. I blurred it since we don’t plan to share Baby C’s name until he or she arrives, but in the sand, I wrote both of our name choices (one for a boy and one for a girl) and took a bump photo with each name. I plan to hang the photo in the nursery once Baby arrives!
PSA: Even if you have a military ID, you are still required to get a visitor’s pass if you’re not stationed at MCBH. We learned that the hard way, hah!
