The second year of marriage has certainly been an adventure! Somedays, I think we both wonder how in the world we’ve been married only 2 years when more has happened to us than some people experience in a lifetime. It feels like we’ve been together forever (in the best way, of course.)
We survived our first PCS– moving from my native Kentucky 700 miles away to rural Iowa– and started new jobs (you as an Army Recruiter, me as a full-time Administrative Assistant.) Adjusting to living in a new town away from “the flagpole” and our new jobs has been a challenge for both of us, but knowing I can rely on you (and you, me) makes it easier.
We’re both still pursuing our college degrees. In fact, you are just a few weeks away from finishing your Associate’s degree. I’m so proud of you and all of those late nights you’ve spent doing homework after an exhausting, long day of Recruiting. Even though both of our lives are much busier than they were this time last year, this year feels more relaxed because we are more comfortable as a team.
And speaking of teams, we’ve done some great things over this past year, like (finally) becoming debt free! I had worked so hard to get my finances in order long before we met, and I love your willingness to join me in changing our lives and creating a legacy for the future children we will have someday in the (far off) future. Despite busy work schedules, we’ve managed to travel a bit this year, visiting South Dakota in the fall, heading home to Kentucky for Christmas, taking a spontaneous overnight trip to Des Moines in the spring, and most recently, an overnight camping trip to Wisconsin and Minnesota to celebrate our second anniversary. I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish together in the third year.
I’m so blessed that you are my best friend, my marriage partner, and my forever teammate. Happy anniversary, my love! Two years down, forever to go!
