Unlike my book review posts that I share monthly, movie and television show reviews are a bit more sporadic! In a given month, I watch maybe one movie and a handful of episodes of a television show. This winter, I watched more television than typical since I was cooped up in the house! Now that the weather is beautiful, I probably won’t have another “What I’m Watching Lately” post until… next winter 😉
I watched the first 2 movies in this series when I visited my friend Lydia in California a few years ago while her husband was deployed. I loved it so much that bought the series so I could watch it when Andy was away for an extended length of time as something to look forward to, but I never got around to it when he was at Air Assault school. I finally decided I would watch this series when he was working late in the evenings since he generally works late. This series was produced by Michael Landon, Jr. (the son of the producer of/Pa Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie) and is based on the Love Comes Softly book series by Janette Oke (the same author as When Calls the Heart.) If you enjoy either Little House on the Prairie or When Calls the Heart, you will enjoy this series.
Andy and I saw this movie for date night back when it was still in theaters. We loved it!!! It was incredibly well-made, and from what I understand, accurate to the stories of the “Horse Soldiers” of the 5th Special Forces Group based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The military sense of humor in the film was spot-on to real military humor. A coworker of mine and her police officer husband were at the theater during the same showing Andy and I attended; I’m pretty sure the 4 of us were the only ones cackling in the theater during the humorous parts because the military and law enforcement sense of humor is so different than civilian humor. I also really enjoyed this movie because Chris Hemsworth is easy on the eyes 😉
Speaking of Chris Hemsworth, Andy and I also went to see Avengers: Infinity War. Apparently, I’m a 75-year old lady at heart because I fell asleep during the 10 pm showing. However, I did wake up for the last 20 minutes– which was the most important part! I’m not a fan of Marvel movies, but I am interested to see what will happen in the next movie since the ending of Infinity War was such a cliffhanger!
Have you watched any good movies or shows lately?
